Forkful #17: A Piece of Italian Countryside

nudo olive tree adoptionWhile the foodie on your list would certainly love a Tuscan villa for Christmas, that’s not exactly what I’m getting at.  How about the next best thing – the “adoption” of an Italian olive tree? Nudo, a company located in the La March region of Italy, offers this cool new idea.  For $150 a year (includes shipping), the lucky adopter gets four 500mL tins of their tree’s first cold press extra virgin oil in mid-April and three half-size tins of infused (lemon, chile and orange) oil in the fall, plus a personalized certificate, information about their tree and an open invite to “visit, hug or water the tree in person.”

Considering the cost of high quality extra virgin olive oil, this is actually a pretty good deal.  To find our more and to order, visit their website.
