Forkful #36: A Bit of the Bubbly
Definitely one of our favorites at The Foodie Forkful HQ (otherwise known as our kitchen) – the Sodastream lets you carbonate your own water and add whatever syrup or extracts you like to create your own soda.
Each CO2 cartridge will carbonate up to 60 liters of water, which means that if you drink soda on even a semi-regular basis this puppy will pay for itself in short order! The other great thing is that even the regular (i.e. not diet) syrups they sell are a 50/50% mix of sugar and Splenda, so it only has half the calories of the store bought stuff, not to mention that it uses sugar instead of hi-fructose corn syrup. What a fun gadget! My kids would have such a great time with this. Think carbonated milk.
Have you had any long term experience with getting refills? We placed an order for a system a few months ago and waited weeks to even see a shipping notice. We finally just cancelled the order because they couldn’t give us an estimated shipping date.
We’ve gotten new syrups and new CO2 bottles a couple of times with no problems…
