Forkful #41: Loose Tea – To Go

tovoloAs anyone who’s ever watched Alton Brown’s Good Eats episode where they discuss tea knows, loose tea is generally higher quality than bagged tea.  Which is fine when you are home and have access to a tea ball, or the nifty tea maker that Teavana makes (we use this one all the time – also a great gift idea, the Amazon link is also below).  But what about making a cup of tasty tea at the office?  Or your in-laws’ house?  Or on a road trip?  The Tovolo Tea Press is what you need.  We ran into this nifty item at the Home and Housewares show we attended in the spring.  It’s a portable plastic tube, roughly the size of a really thick pen, which holds your loose tea, and then plops into your cup of hot water to infuse it.  It’s nice and portable, and will help save you from that stale cup of Lipton Orange Pekoe you may encounter away from home. And it’s small/inexpensive enough to make a nice easy Christmas gift idea, or stocking stuffer.
